Need for Speed World is a MMOG racing game based off of the popular Need for Speed racing series. The game includes a selection of authentic licensed vehicles and thousands of parts to enhance your car. Compete against other players in online racing matches with an RPG-style progression in solo and multi-player races.

Co-developed by Black Box and EA Singapore, Need for Speed World Online takes the race into the largest open world in the history of Need for Speed — designed exclusively for the PC. This Play 4 Free action racing game will give Need for Speed fans access to licensed cars, parts and multiple game modes. Players will prove their racing supremacy through the sophisticated online matchmaking features and fully customize their profile and their ride.

World takes on the gameplay style of Most Wanted and Carbon, focusing on illegal racing, tuning and police chases, and adds classic MMO elements to the mix such as special abilities. World also features the cities of Rockport and Palmont, the cities of Most Wanted and Carbon respectively, into its map design, along with a full night/day cycle. It also features co-op gameplay and team based game modes where the players play as the police.[citation needed] It will have the most licensed cars, upgrade parts, and game modes ever in the series history.

EA has also announced that the game won’t be completely free. After a certain level, the player won’t be able to progress further in the game and will cease to earn any more points. To continue the game, the player has to purchase the NFS World Starter Pack. Without that, the player is allowed to play the game for as long as he or she wants, but the game won’t progress.
